It
is very important for human kind that architecture should
move by its beauty; if there are many equally valid technical
solutions to a problem, the one which offers the user a message
of beauty and emotion, that one is architecture. ~ Luis Barragan
Barragan speaks
of architecture as emotional, not a cold piece of convenience
.This single family home was a continued exploration of breaking
apart the static linearity of the typical floor section and
creating a multi level home of space and light. The entry
is below grade allowing a 40+ foot central atrium surrounded
by catwalks and bridges. Each of the private second and third
floor spaces look into the central atrium creating a floating
feeling no matter what level.
